According to a press release, the art show ranges from the heart aching expressions of Azizee’s paintings to the subtle drama of Rakib’s drawings to the wit and charm of Anisuzzaman’s sculptures
A new contemporary art show, titled 'Ek Kodom', will be inaugurated in AJ Tower, Kawran Bazar, on Saturday 5:30pm.
The exhibition will feature the artworks by three young and upcoming artists - Azizee Fawmi Khan, Rakib Anwar and Anisuzzaman Faroque.
According to a press release, the art show ranges from the heart aching expressions of Azizee’s paintings to the subtle drama of Rakib’s drawings to the wit and charm of Anisuzzaman’s sculptures.
Surrounding these artworks, a playful yet thought-provoking environment has been designed through architectural experimentation and a collaborative effort.
The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony will be State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid. Director-General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director-General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Sirajee, Bangladeshi-Spanish artist Monirul Islam, modern artist Wakilur Rahman, and eminent cartoonist Ahsan Habib will also attend the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition.
'Ek Kodom,' which is the first in a series of exhibitions themed around Dhaka, is being organized by Platform - an arts, entertainment and media production company.
The company was formed to create collaboration among ideators, strategists, and content producers of different mediums. Aside from exhibitions, Platform will create, produce and distribute all forms of entertainment for both local and international audiences.
Furthermore, Platform aims to support, promote and integrate young Bangladeshi artists with the type of discourse that the international contemporary art world knows and loves.
The company also aims to continue this journey for at least 10 consecutive years to reach ‘Dosh Kodom’ - the tenth exhibition of the series celebrating Dhaka.
Platform initiated this series of exhibitions because Dhaka is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and it is teeming with lives, stories and colours. Behind this initiative Platform's belief was such, that if a single step is sincerely taken by a group of artists, then it can inspire another thousand steps by different communities.
The first exhibition, ‘Ek Kodom’, attempts to present the diversity of Dhaka by arranging a celebratory environment full of artworks from diverse media - including paintings, sculptures, and installations.
Portraying the modern aspects of Dhaka in 'Ek Kodom', the artists created thoughtful material experimentation with a synchronized mutual interest. Each of the selected artists has a distinguished style in terms of the working process and media selection - but their artworks express a common manner of conveying thoughts into pieces, by dedicating time and effort to thematic investigation and then applying it in their own respective ways.
The art show will be open to all from Monday to next Saturday (January 11) at AJ Tower's rooftop. The visiting hours are from 5pm to 9pm. The address of AJ Tower is 4, Kawran Bazar, Sonargaon link road, Dhaka.
