Miles will perform at Hall 3 of International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, while Artcell's concert will take place at ICCB expo zone
Miles and Artcell, two of the legendary bands in the rock music industry of Bangladesh, are planning to finish 2019 with two separate mega concerts, celebrating their 40th and 20th year anniversary respectively. Rock music fans are eagerly waiting for the two concerts and expressed their enthusiasm on social media. Interestingly, both the concerts have been scheduled on the same day on December 24, and surprisingly, in adjacent areas.
Thus, some fans are confused and expressed their concerns on social media, wondering why these two bands are holding such mega events on the same date and almost at the same time.
Miles will perform at Hall 3 of International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, while Artcell's concert will take place at ICCB expo zone.
Both the concerts will take place in the evening session, according to the announcements. Artcell will perform from 5pm onwards, while Miles will hit the stage from 6pm.
Miles is undoubtedly one of the pioneering and legendary bands in the country's rock music industry, which has been phenomenally successful over the last 40 years. Artcell has also been extremely popular with the crowds for the last two decades, with countless hit numbers for the last two decades.
Some critics have suggested that there may be some tension between these two bands and thus concerts in same date has been scheduled to counter one another.
However, members from both bands dismissed these allegations and confirmed that selection of the same date for the celebratory concerts is a mere coincidence.
On Monday, members of Miles and Artcell gathered at a Dhaka hotel and expressed their unity in the rock music scenario of Bangladesh.
Miles’ lead vocalist Shafin Ahmed said: “Miles and Artcell will celebrate their respective concerts on December 24, and both bands are totally happy to do so. It’s just a coincidence that the date is the same. There are no complications in this regard. Both bands are going to celebrate the day in the respective premises, and we want our fans to come in and enjoy as they like."
“I think this is the first time in the history of Bangladesh band music that two bands from different generations are going to perform separate big concerts on the same day. Some fans may be confused or may think that there is some tension between these two bands, but the fact is there is no scope of such things. We just want to give our fans a positive message that we should make the premises thrive with celebration," said Miles’ lead guitarist and Bamba (Bangladesh Musical Bands Association) President Hamin Ahmed.
“From Artcell’s point of view, we want to emphasize that we have the utmost respect for Miles. They are celebrating their 40th while we are just on our 20th. It is with their guidance that we have matured as musicians. We have always had a great relationship with every member of Miles. There should be absolutely no confusion that our relationship has now soured and is the cause for our two shows to be happening on the same date. Yes, we tried to change the date but there are lots of influencing factors while arranging such mega events - availability of the venues, permission from the law enforcement, availability of the band members, sponsors, time restrictions, etc. It’s just a coincidence that the same date was available."
"Since we have to do both the shows on the same date, then let’s celebrate it together. There is absolutely no chance of spoiling our relationship for just this event,” said Kazi Sajjadul Asheqeen Shaju and other members of Artcell.
In order to celebrate its 40th anniversary, Miles performed about 28 concerts in the USA, Canada and Australia in the past five months so far and the next concert will be the gala event.
On the other hand, Artcell bassist Saif Al Nazi Cezanne has arrived in Dhaka from Australia on Monday morning, while their drummer Shaju has been in Bangladesh for the last few months, attending gigs and practice sessions regularly along with other two members George Lincoln De Costa (vocal) and Kazi Faisal Ahmed (lead guitar) ahead of their big occasion.
Asiatic EXP is arranging Artcell’s concert , whereas Windmill is arranging the celebratory concert for Miles.
