Impress Telefilm’s first anthology film Iti, Tomari Dhaka (Sincerely Yours, Dhaka) is set to have its online premiere on Netflix this month.The announcement came from the project’s creative producer Abu Shahed Emon at a special screening session of the film at the capital’s Blockbuster Cinemas on Saturday evening.
Emon also confirmed at the event that they are aiming for December 16 for the film’s Netflix premiere, as the date marks Bangladesh’s Victory Day. He also added that the exact release date is yet to be confirmed, but it will be released within this month.
The only other Bangladeshi film currently on the world’s largest VOD (video on demand) platform is another Impress Telefilm feature titled Komola Rocket directed by Noor Imran Mithu.
Iti, Tomari Dhaka received a theatrical release in Bangladesh on November 15, and is currently running its third successful week.
The film had its world premiere at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival last year, held in South Korea.
In January the film won the Best Original Screenplay award at the Jaipur International Film Festival in India.
Iti, Tomari Dhaka also participated in the Kolhapur International Film Festival, Chennai International Film Festival, Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival in Indonesia, Third Eye Asian International Film Festival in Mumbai, Aurangabad International Film Festival, Independent Film Festival of Chennai, and the Asian Film Festival, Pune.
Eleven young film-makers contributed to the anthology. They are Abdullah Al Noor, Golam Kibria Farooki, Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, Mahmudul Islam, Md Robiul Alam, Mir Mukarram Hossain, Nuhash Humayun, Rahat Rahman, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan, and Tanvir Ahsan.
