Since there was no restriction on plots, cartoonist Tanmoy and his team decided to go in a different direction
Prior to the release of Bangladesh's first surfing film, No Dorai, Star Cineplex released a comic book and animated video, No Dorai-Adventure of Ayesha, through an event held at Dhaka Club on Tuesday.
Recently, No Dorai (Dare to Surf), got certificate from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. The film will be released on Friday.
With this movie, Star Cineplex (ShowMotion Limited), till now a movie theater enterprise, is venturing into the world of movie production.
Rahman, the Chairman of Star Cineplex had reached out to Cartoon People and asked them to make a comic book about surfing named No Dorai, to promote their movie.
Since there was no restriction on plots, cartoonist Tanmoy and his team decided to go in a different direction.
The No Dorai comic book tells the story of Ayesha, a young surfer who participates in the first ever Asian Surfing Tournament, and uses her skills to save her father from pirates.
Rashad Imam Tanmoy informed that there is a lot of action in the comic, but the real fight is how she takes on all the superstitions and stereotypes the bad guys try to use to hold Ayesha back.
No Dorai, which means "not afraid" in Chittagonian dialect, features actor Shariful Raj and model Sunerah Binte Kamal in the lead roles.
The film is directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu, and is shot by cinematographer Suman Sarker. Popular Bangladeshi singer Xefer Rahman served as executive producer.
