The grand award giving ceremony will honour film personalities along with performances of film stars of both Bengals
The 1st Bharat Bangladesh Film Awards (BBFA) will be held in the capital's International Convention City Bashundhara’s Navratri hall on October 21. The event is being jointly organized by Film Federation of India (FFI) and Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Group in association with TM Films, a film production company owned by popular Bangladeshi musician Kaushik Hossain Taposh and Farzana Munny.
The grand award giving ceremony will honour film personalities along with performances of film stars of both Bengals. The event will also give out lifetime achievement awards to renowned film professionals.
BBFA Co-ordinator Tapan Roy said: “More than two hundred film stars from two countries will attend the event. A total of 24 awards in three categories (Popular, Technical and Regional) will be given to films and film professionals among Bangla films, released between June 2018 to June 2019, in Bangladesh and India.”
The awards are- best film, best producer, best actor and actress, best co-actor and co-actress, best music, the best musician (male and female), popular film of the year, popular actor and actress of the year, life time achievement, best screenplay, best producer and best editor.
President of the Film Federation of India (FFI), Firdausul Hasan said: "This type of a cultural conference between the two friendly countries should have taken place a long time ago. It is finally happening and through such a huge event. We are grateful to the cultural personalities of both countries who worked very hard to make this possible. Without such cooperation and support, it would have been difficult to organize such a big event. I believe this event will add a new dimension to the old friendship between us.”
TM Films chairperson Farzana Munni said: "This is the first time such a huge award program between the two countries is going to be held. At the same time, our TM Films has stepped into the film industry. Our film industry is currently in a crisis and we have decided to produce films in an attempt to raise new possibilities here and overcome it. I am dreaming of delivering the country's films to the international arena. We have made that possible with Bangladesh’s music through our channel Gaan Bangla. We would like to convey the same vision to the film professionals of the two countries by organizing the Bharat Bangladesh Film Awards.”
A recent press statement confirmed that popular actor Alamgir Hossain, Sarah Begum Kabori, Imdadul Haq Milan, Film Producers’ Association president Khorshed Alam Khasru and film producer Hasibur Reza Kallol will serve as members of the jury board from Bangladesh to select the awardees, alongside filmmaker Goutam Ghosh, actor-director Bratya Basu, actress Tanushree Chakraborty will be jury members from the Indian side.
The program has Zee Bangla in India and East West Media Group in Bangladesh as their broadcast partners and ATN Bangla and Gaan Bangla Television as its media partners. One More Zero is the event partner of the award program.
