Shahensha, which stars Shakib Khan and Nusraat Faria, was scheduled to be released last Eid-ul-Fitr. However, the release date was first postponed to Eid-ul-Azha, and then another date. Last confirmed date of release was to be October 4, according to the film's production house Shapla Media. Now, reports are coming in that the release date has been delayed once again to the next Eid-ul-Fitr.
Reportedly, the preparation for releasing the film was already complete. The film's marketing team was already promoting the film. However, Shapla Media stalled the release at the last minute. The founder of Shapla Media Selim Khan told reporters: "The current political climate is a little unstable. The government is conducting raids to clamp down on corruption. People of the country are currently focused on that. Therefore, we do not want to release the film at this time."
On the other hand, Shap Ludu was released on September 27. Regarding this Selim informed that Shahensha is a film with a bigger budget. Therefore festival season is the safest time for its release. He further informed that they had done this for a previous film from their house as well.
He said: "Shahensha will be released on the next Eid-ul-Fitr. That is final."
The film's announcement was made on September 5 last year in a gala event, held in a luxury hotel in Dhaka. On March 12, the film received the permission for release, without any edits, from Bangladesh Film Censor Board. Since then the film is awaiting its release.
The film also stars Rodela Jannat, Misha Sawdagar, Ujjal, Ahmed Sharif, Anubhob Mahbub, and Liton Hashmi. The digital content partner for the film is Live Technologies.
