Lalmonirhat hosts day long Nazrul fest

A day-long Nazrul festival was held in Lalmonirhat on the occasion of the 43rd death anniversary of Bangladesh’s national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Advocate Motiar of Lalmonirhat Zila Parishad inaugurated the event by hoisting the national flag, and afterwards a performance of the national anthem at Lalmonirhat Zilla Parishad auditorium hallroom Friday morning.

Poets and social workers Ferdousi Rahman Beauty, Principal Swapna Zaman, Teachers Azizul Haque Molla,   Sarmin Haque Bithi, Hasina Mahbub, Rwana Marzia, Professor Golam Rahman, Professor (Retd) Habibur Rahman, Majid Mondal, Nazrul Islam University Assistant Professor Mawla Prince, poet Saroj Deb, Additional Superintendent of Police SM Shafiqul Islam, Captain (retd) Azizul Haque, Upazila chairman Kamruzzaman Sujan, Civil Surgeon Dr Kashem Ali, poet Delwar Hossain, cultural activist Mujibur Rahman, musician Tajul Chowdhury, playwright Shamim Ahmed, Makhan Lal Das, and many others were present during the event.

After the inaugural ceremony, Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, and Dr Shashwat Bhattacharya took recitation workshop for 47 people, Abul Kalam Azad took a dance workshops for 50 people, Suman Chowdhury, and Tamal Kanti Lahiri took a music workshop for 75 people. Certificates were distributed to the participants right before the closing ceremony.

Md Mahfuz Arnab, a second-grader at Lalmonirhat Cantonment Public School and College said at the event: "We have learned a lot about our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam through this wonderful event.  I also learned poetry recitation through the workshop. Organizing such events every year will help us to develop our inner talents.“

Poet Saroj Dev said: "We can form an ideal society by studying literature, and culture. Throughout the ages, the change of society came through literary, and cultural movements. The ancient or the medieval period has changed, and the modern age is now underway. Nazrul Festival should be organized in the same manner each year in Lalmonirhat. This is what we, from the art, literature, cultural, and artistic society, want.“
