Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was the chief guest of the opening ceremony
The 14th edition of the Theatre and Cultural Festival for Children has begun at the capital’s Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises. The nine day long festival opened with an inauguration rally, followed by a discussion and cultural program at 9pm on Friday. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, renowned artist Mustafa Monwar, International Theatre Insitute’s honorary president Ramendu Majumdar, and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation’s General Secretary Kamal Bayezid also attended the event as special guests.
The event was presided by Shilpakala Academy’s Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky.
Children’s cultural organizations from 64 districts and 94 children’s theatre troupes will be performing in the eight venues of the festival, including National Theatre Hall, National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium, and the open stages in the compound of Shilpakala Academy.
Children have arrived from all over the country to perform in plays, single-actor plays, and school theatre, songs. They will also be performing dance, recitation, drawing and the March 7 speech by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The festival will end on September 28 with a closing ceremony.
