Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan’s ‘Mission Mangal’ ready to launch

Mission Mangal is based on events surrounding the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Mars Orbiter Mission

A three-minute trailer of Mission Mangal was released last week, showing Rakesh Dhawan (Akshay Kumar), along with Tanya Shinde (Vidya Balan) spearheading India’s mission to send a spacecraft to orbit Mars. 

In the trailer, Dhawan infuses home science into the space programe asserting India’s ability to reach new frontiers. His team of scientists are played by Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sonakshi Sinha and Sharman Joshi.

Mission Mangal is based on events surrounding the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Mars Orbiter Mission. 

India became the first Asian country to reach the Mars orbit and the first country in the world to do so in its first attempt, back in 2013.

Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal will be out on August 15, India’s Independence Day. Other films to be out that weekend include Nikkhil Advani’s Batla House (starring John Abraham) and Sujeeth’s multi-lingual Saaho (starring Jackie Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor).
