Today (July 22) marks the second death anniversary of Zeheen Ahmed, one of the finest young guitarists of the country. Two years ago today, Zeheen passed away, leaving behind his friends, family, and fans. Till today we are at a denial of his death.

Zeheen’s untimely death reminded us that depression is real, and how self-destructive it could be.

He fought depression night and day, with his music.

Zeheen’s stage persona was so electrifying that nobody could guess what was going through his head. Every single person who knew him would forever cherish their memories with him. Similarly, his fans can never forget the music Zeheen had created.

As a core member of heavy metal band, Mechanix, Zeheen had established himself as one of the most iconic guitarists of our generation.

Zeheen had shared the same stage with Ayub Bachchhu, and Iqbal Asif Jewel. As a guitarist he had all the potential to become a guitar legend in Bangladesh.

The day before his death, Zeheen attended a tribute concert to Soundgarden’s late frontman Chris Cornell – who had taken his life after struggling with depression. Months later, Linkin Park vocalist, Chester Bennington also lost his battle to depression.

It was very difficult for Zeheen’s band mates to cope with his loss. In two years the band has traversed a long way, and kept their music alive for Zeheen, as the band told us: “Zeheen Ahmed will live forever through our music.”

Zeheen might be gone, but not forgotten. He will forever remain the 27-year-old brilliant guitarist who will inspire generations after generations of Bangladeshi youngsters to pick up the guitar.
