My favourite scene was when Happy plays the AC/DC song while Peter prepares his suits and says: 'I love Led Zeppelin'
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has redefined the concept of super-hero films. The studio’s latest addition, Spider-Man: Far from Home has not disappointed its fans. After the Avengers: Endgame, the sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming launches the next phase of MCU.
Throughout the film Peter Parker (Tom Holland) mourns the death of Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Peter tries to escape reality and take a break from being a super-hero. However, as Peter is destined to be more than a friendly-neighbourhood Spiderman and carry the legacy of Iron Man, circumstances bring him back to fight another “Avengers level villain.”
As the film’s title is Spider-Man: Far from Home, it is obvious that the main events of the film take place far from New York. Peter goes on a school trip with his friends to Europe where he gets the call of duty from Nick Fury, whose calls Peter had been avoiding.
The film has great witty dialogues and character defining moments for Peter Parker. Peter’s character arc transforms into the person who has the potential to walk into Tony’s shoes. Happy (Jon Favreau) and Peter’s chemistry is one of the great elements of the film.
My favourite scene was when Happy plays the AC/DC song while Peter prepares his suits and says: “I love Led Zeppelin.”
Tom Holland is brilliant as a hormonal 16-year-old Peter Parker. His performance sets the bar higher for Marvel Comics based characters. Zendaya brings life to MJ with perfection while Jacob Batalon is great as Peter’s best friend, Ned. Jake Gyllenhaal acting as Quentin Beck aka Mysterio is remarkable in the film.
Jon Watts’s direction complements the heartfelt, entertaining film. Erik Sommers wrote the screenplay based on Marvel comic book.
Matthew J Lloyd’s cinematography captured the beauty of Europe. Anna B Sheppard’s costume design deserves a huge compliment, especially for Holland and Zendaya costumes.
The film is a perfect summer treat for the MCU fans and definitely deserves 4 stars out of 5. Don’t miss the mid-credit and end –credit scenes.
