Bangladeshi band Alex and the Monsters released their debut music video, titled “Shallow Grave”, on YouTube on Monday. The video, produced under the record label of Studio Lonthon, is a compilation of seven original tracks from the band’s upcoming album, “Shallow Grave”.

All of the tracks, in this first compilation series produced by Studio Lonthon, were written, composed and sung by the band’s frontman, Shourov Khan Alex. Aabir Khalid was on the cajons.

When asked about the album, Alex told Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “I have been writing and composing these tracks for more than six-seven years now. All of these tracks belong on my upcoming album, ‘Shallow Grave’. This is the first time that these tracks are being made publicly available in their true, raw and unplugged forms.”

Studio Lonthon’s music production chief Miftaur Rahman Sabbi told Showtime: “We have been selecting and grooming numerous musicians in Dhaka for the past few years. Alex was one of the best musicians we have come across so far, and we are proud to release this mixed tape of his original works from his upcoming album.

“Bangladesh is a land of music, and yet, apart from Bangladeshi composer Zayed Hassan, no one has really clicked the Grammy Awards yet. Zayed received a special invitation to the Grammy Awards back in 2017 for his track ‘Sailing Through The Clouds’. But we think with proper producing, Alex has the writing and composing potential to bring the first Grammy to our shores with his album,” added Sabbi.

Alex is also a painter and a freelance animation artist, who is applying to study fine arts in Germany next year. He also said he will start recording the completed version of the album within a year and half in Berlin or Bangkok, as Dhaka doesn’t have an international standard studio recording facilities yet.

All of the animations used in the music video were done by Alex himself. The video has been released on the official YouTube channels of Alex and the Monsters and Studio Lonthon.
