The meme featured three pictures of Aishwarya — one with actor Salman Khan, one with Vivek Oberoi, and one with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya
On his Twitter profile, Indian actor Vivek Oberoi posted an offensive meme featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Monday, reports The Indian Express.
The meme featured three pictures of Aishwarya — one with actor Salman Khan, one with Vivek Oberoi, and one with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya. The pictures were captioned "opinion polls," "exit polls," and "results" respectively.
Later, he deleted the tweet on Tuesday after facing backlash from other celebrities and fans who slammed the actor for sharing such a “distasteful” meme.
Vivek also posted his apologies, hours after a display of defiance.
"Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies, tweet deleted," the actor tweeted on Tuesday.
However, earlier in the day, Vivek had declared that he had nothing to apologise for. He told ANI news agency: "I have no problem with apologizing, but tell me, what wrong have I done? If I have done something wrong, I will apologize. I don't think I have done anything wrong."
People were making a "huge issue out of it," he said, adding that he just "laughed at the meme." He also said he was "appreciating the person for their creativity."
