The series, titled 'Troyilokyo,' will be the debut web series of critically-acclaimed Indian film-maker Arindam Sil
Popular Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan will star as a serial killer in an upcoming Zee5 original web series, according to a recent report by The Telegraph India. The series, titled “Troyilokyo,” will be the debut web series of critically-acclaimed Indian film-maker Arindam Sil.
Sil told The Telegraph India: “Set in mid-19th century Bengal, the web series tells the story of a serial killer, a Bengali woman called Troyilokyo. She was deeply associated with her partner and love interest, Kalibabu, a con man. The other most important character of this series is Priyonath Mukhopadhyay [played by popular West Bengal actor Tota Choudhury], a detective, who goes on a hunt for Troyilokyo and Kalibabu.”
When asked why he cast Jaya as the killer, Sil said: "She is one of the most intelligent actresses and is an extremely pretty woman. Jaya was the natural choice. The character has so many shades. We have already registered the story and the title and the subject is perfect for a web series," said Sil.
The bilingual project will be shot in both Hindi and Bangla. The production of the Zee5 series will begin right before Durga Puja in West Bengal.
Moreover, recently released film “Konttho,” starring Jaya, is having a successful run all over West Bengal and now has entered its second week in theatres. The film—directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee—also stars Paoli Dam alongside Jaya.
