Art critic Takir Hossain has been selected to participate in a month-long writers’ residency programme at AIR Litteratur in Strömstad, Sweden.

Takir is now in the small city, in western Sweden, as part of the residency programme. The month long residency programme began on May 1.

During his stay, he will concentrate on his upcoming book about the contemporary art scene in Europe. He will also focus on the modern Scandinavian style of fine art and existing challenges of local art galleries. The experienced art critic will also focus on the challenges artists face in their lives.

He will also participate in discussions with artists, art critics, and curators of art galleries and museums.

Through his residency, and visit to other European countries, he will gather the necessary input for his book.

As an art critic, Takir’s reviews have been incorporated in many reputed artists’ books, brochures, national and international art journals — as well as various forms of creative publications.

He was also a jury member for a number of art competitions, festivals and summits. In his long-versatile career, Takir has covered several international exhibitions held in different countries across Europe and Asia.

Currently, he is working as the Editor of the Art and Culture Department of The Daily Observer.
