Actor Jaya Ahsan's new film "Konttho" was released in film theatres across India today.

After the release of the trailer on April 14, Jaya has been receiving significant praise for her acting in the film on social media. Bollywood actor  Rishi Kapoor is among admirers, and he described the trailer as “very impressive” in a recent tweet.

"Konttho" is directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, and was produced by Windows Production House.

For the promotion of the film, Jaya has been in Kolkata. She told reporters:"The story is about turning your life around. It is a very inspiring film. You will see in the film that I am speaking in an esophageal voice instead of  my regular voice. This voice is used by people who have had their voice-box removed due to throat cancer. To speak with this voice, I had to receive training before shooting.

"I am a teacher in this film. Those who have lost their voice due to cancer, these are the people I teach language. I think it will be an extraordinary film and another hit by the Shibo-Nandita duo."

In addition to Jaya, the other lead actors are Paoli Dam and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. The story of the film concerns a Radio Jockey (RJ) who lost his voice due to cancer, and how he turns his life around after seeking help from a voice trainer.
