Alongside Sadia, Fipresci has also appointed two French critics and a critic each from the countries- Portugal, Denmark, Norway, United States, Belgium, and Israel.

The 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from May 14 to 25. Oscar-winning Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu will serve as the event’s jury president.

Sadia Khalid Reeti, a screenwriting grad from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), has been an active member of International Film Critic Association of Bangladesh (IFCAB), which is the Bangladeshi equivalent of Fipresci. Two years later, she did become a member of Fipresci.

Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime asked her about her recent milestone and she said: “Attending Cannes Film Festival as a jury is a huge honour for me. I feel lucky to represent Bangladesh on this global stage, as well representing female filmmakers and activists.”

Previously, Internationally renowned Bangladeshi film critic, Ahmed Muztaba Zamal attended the 2002 Cannes Film Festival as a jury for Fipresci. He also attended the festival in 2005 and 2009 as a Fipresci jury.
