Tuesday marks the 73rd birth anniversary of actor Rosy Afsari, popularly known as Rosy Samad. In order to pay tribute to the iconic Bangla cinema actor, Google has created a new doodle.
The doodle shows Rosy smiling while dressed in traditional attire.
Rosy Samad’s career began in 1964 with “Eito Jibon.” She acted in over 200 films, including 25 that are in Urdu. Most of her characters are traditional women in Bangladeshi society who make sacrifices for the greater good of her family and loved ones.
She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in its very first ceremony in 1975, for her role in the film Lathial. She also received numerous other awards throughout her career.
Rosy died from kidney failure at Birdem Hospital in Dhaka on March 9, 2007.
