Human chain for murdered Drik photographer

They are protesting all disappearances, murders, rapes, abductions, and injustice, gathering outside the National Press Club on Saturday at 5:30pm

Three years ago on April 2, Drik employee and photographer, Md Irfanul Islam (42), went missing from Dhanmondi Rd. 8, around 10:30 am. 

The next morning, news came that a man’s body, resembling Irfanul, had been found in Jalkuri, Shiddhirganj, near the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road. No one has been found guilty in this case so far.

Drik and Pathshala have been jointly observing Irfan Murder Day every year. They are protesting all disappearances, murders, rapes, abductions, and injustice, gathering outside the National Press Club on April 2 at 5:30pm.

They will also protest the delay of justice in the cases of Tonu from Comilla, Professor of Rajshahi University, Rezaul Karim Siddique, Sadhu Paramananda of Tungipara, Muazzin Billal Hossain of Old Dhaka, USAID employee Xulhaz Mannan, theater artist Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy, journalists Sagar-Runi, and Kalpana Chakma who has been missing for the past 23 years.

The speakers at the human-chain will be Member-Secretary of National Committee of Oil, Gas,Electricity-Port Preservation, Prof. Anu Mohammed, and Gonosanghati Andolon Chief Coordinator, Zonayed Saki. Researcher and activist Mahtab Uddin Ahmed will initiate a performance art installation. Photographer Taslima Akhter will host the event.
