Panchagarh theatre group Bhumiz will perform at a three-day long musical theatre production festival at Pasang Lhamu Memorial Building in Nepal's Jhapa Nagar. Five groups from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal will perform their musicals at this cultural festival from March 19 to 21.
The festival is being organized by the Nepal Bangladesh Chamber of Traders.
Bhumiz will stage their musical production, “The Songs of Love.” Mustafizur Rahman, the coordinator of this production, said: “Most of the songs of this production are originals. Most of them are written, composed and produced by our theatre group members and were used in our drama productions at different times. Most songs of the production were written and composed by Sarker Haider, and some by Hajjaj Tannin.”
“Raisuddin sang the tracks, and apart from that, Nasrin Akhter, Hajjaj Tannin, and Anwar Hossain also, were co-singers on different tracks,” added Mustafizur.
He also said: “On March 18, we will leave for Nepal with a total of 15 people by the Banglabandha land port, a major inland port in northern Bangladesh.”
“Most of these tracks are experimental. The songs mostly celebrate love and some of them also celebrate our land, our Liberation War, and spirituality. These tracks have been experimented with local Panchagarh music tunes.”
The production’s playwright and director, Sarker Haider, said: “This production has been staged locally several times and received great praise from the audience. This is the first time we're going out of this country with the production. Hopefully, audiences of three countries will enjoy the songs of this musical production.”
