Sohag Sumon, the first runner-up of Close-Up 1 Tomakey Khujchhey Bangladesh 2012, learned his craft from singing maestro Bari Siddiqui, who passed away in 2017. That same Sohag recently released his debut album, which contains lyrics and tunes by the legend.
The album, “Premer Ghuri”, was released on Valentine’s Day (February 14) on Bangladhol YouTube channel. The speciality of the album is that four of the songs were written, composed and originally sung by Bari Siddiqui.
Sohag, the legend’s protégé, sang the songs anew for the new album. The music arrangement was done by Mushfiq Litu. The album is available on other streaming platforms, such as Banglaflix, Robi Screen, Airtel Screen and Teleflix.
On the occasion of the album's release, Sohag performed songs from it live at Bangladhol studio on Valentine’s Day.
Regarding the album, he said: “My dream was to have Bari Siddiqui’s tunes on my debut album. That dream has come true. Before leaving our world forever, he gave ‘voice guide’ for the songs on the album. I am very grateful to him. My belief is that fans will listen to the songs and if they like them, then definitely they will help make the album popular.”
