Miss Bangladesh 2018 Oishee crashes out during finale
Miss Mexico Vanessa Ponce De Leon was announced as Miss World 2018 at the grand finale of the event held at the Sanya City Arena in China on Saturday evening.
A total of 118 contestants from all around the world participated in the global beauty pageant.
Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar of India crowned her successor at the grand event.
Vanessa was born on March 7, 1992. She is a full-time model in Mexico, and was born and raised in the city of Guanajuato in the country. She is the first Mexican to be crowned Miss World.
She is involved with Nenemi, a school that provides intercultural education to children from indigenous tribes.
Vanessa was crowned Miss World Mexico 2018 on May 5, 2018, after beating 31 other candidates to the national title.
She is a graduate in international commerce from the University of Guanajuato, and also has a diploma in Human Rights.
She volunteers for “Migrantes en el Camino” and is also a member of the board of directors of a rehab centre for girls in Mexico.
Miss Thailand Nicolene Limsnukan finished as the runner up at the 2018 competition.
Moreover, Miss World Bangladesh Jannatul Ferdous Oishee also competed in the 68th edition of Miss World. Oishee was among the top 30 contestants in the race to be crowned Miss World, but could not make it to the top 12 at the grand finale.
She was voted as the winner among six contestants in the group 6 Head to Head Challenge by public vote. The other contestants in her group were China, British Virgin Islands, Denmark, Brazil and Ireland.
In the final round of Head to Head Challenge, she was chosen by all three judges (Stephanie Del Valle, Manushi Chhillar, Megan Young) to win over Miss Nigeria, which placed Oishee in the top 30 of 118 contestants for Miss World 2018.
Oishee was crowned Miss World Bangladesh 2018 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka on September 30. She won the title by defeating 30,000 contestants, and gained entry to the Miss World 2018 pageant.
