Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tookfull responsibility for medical treatment of eminent film director Amjad Hossain.
PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan invited Amjad Hossain’s sons –Shazzad Hossain Dodul and Sohel Arman – to Ganabhaban yesterday morning.
Shazzad Hossain Dodul told the Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “We are so touched by our PM’s compassion; she was so worried about the conditionof my father’s health.”
After talking to his two sons prime minister decided to take care of Amjad Hossain’s treatment.
Dodul further informed that his father’s health condition deteriorated. His blood pressure was high and heart palpitation was fluctuating even as this article was being written.
Depending on the results of CT scan, Amjad’s family wants to take him to Singapore National University Hospital for better treatment. Prime Minister has promised to bear all the expenses and make the necessary arrangements.
“She stood by our family like a guardian,” said an emotional Dodul.
“No one can be compared to her, I couldn’t hold my tears in front of our honorable prime minister,” he added.
Film Director SA Haque Olik went to Ganabhaban along with Amjad Hossain’s sons.
Amjad Hossain was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Impulse Hospital and has been put on a life support as he suffered a stroke at his residence on Sunday.
Notable films directed by Amjad Hossain are “Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978),” “Sundori (1979),” “Koshai (1980),” “Jonmo Theke Jolchi (1982),” “Dui Poysar Alta (1982),” “Bhat Dey (1984),” “Golapi Ekhon Dhakay (2006)," and “Golapi Ekhon Bilatey (2010).”
The veteran director has bagged many awards during his tenure in the film industry including the Agrani Bank Juvenile Literature Award, Bangla Academy Award and many more.
Amjad Hossain was a recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 1992 and hadreceived the National Film Award several times.
