She posted a status thanking Sheila Ahmed and Nuhash Humayun, Humayun Ahmed’s children who created the Misir Ali series, along with photos of them attending the film’s screening. She wrote: “Since the beginning of my career when someone asked me who was my favorite actor I always replied: Sheila Ahmed. I am sure there is a huge fan following of Sheila’s acting, just like myself. It is a great honour that Sheila Ahmed came to watch ‘Debi, ’ my first film as a producer.”
“I especially want to mention Nuhash Humayun. Nuhash supported us throughout the “Debi” project and I thank him for that,” she added.
She also wrote: “We, who love and respect Humayun Ahmed sir, also deeply love their family members. We love you Nova, Sheila, Bipasha, and Nuhash. Our best wishes for all of you and Humayun Ahmed sir. Sir will live on through you and your work.”
Jaya also posted a status with Humayun Ahmed’s widow, Meher Afroz Shaon, and their two sons Nishad and Ninit. She wrote: “Nishad gave ‘Debi’ 10 on 10 but Ninit cut two off as he got scared. He said he can’t sleep tonight. Thank you so much you two.”

The film “Debi,” based on popular Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed’s book of the same title, has been produced by Jaya’s production company C Te Cinema with partial financing from a Bangladesh government grant.The film, directed by Anam Biswas, is distributed by Jaaz Multimedia. It hit theatres on October 19 and is running successfully all over the country.
