BTS sets YouTube record for biggest debut

The last record was held in 2017 by Taylor Swift’s single, 'Look What You Made Me Do,' which was watched 43.2 million times in one day after its release

Korean pop band, BTS (Bangtan Boys) set a new record for the biggest music debut on YouTube. Their new single, “Idol,” has been viewed more than 45 million times in the first 24 hours since its upload on August 24.

The last record was held in 2017 by Taylor Swift’s single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” which was watched 43.2 million times in one day after its release.

 YouTube’s official Twitter account congratulated the band, saying: “Congratulations to BTS! “IDOL” now holds the record for the biggest music video debut in YouTube history, earning over 45 million views in its first 24 hours.”

Within four days of its release, “Idol” has been watched more than 86 million times. It is a single from BTS’s latest album, “Love Yourself: Answer.”
