Model, actor Kazi Asif Rahman, who was recently arrested after his wife Shamima Akhter had accused him of physically torturing her, received bail on April 25. Just after receiving bail the “Ghashful” star filed a divorce notice accusing her of dishonesty, as well as citing misunderstanding between them, and a few other points.
Shamima Akhter recently told the press that the notice also states that Asif filed the divorce on April 2 and posted it on April 23. On the same day, Asif was arrested at Shahjalal International Airport immigration as he was returning from shooting in Malaysia, and sent to court the next day. After the hearing Asif was sent to Dhaka Central Jail at Keranigonj. On April 25, he was granted bail on conditions that he will stop physically abusing his wife and support his child’s financial needs. The court also declared if he tries to hurt his wife and children again, there will be strict legal actions taken against him.
Shamima also told the press that the court asked him about the divorce, but he did not say anything back then. She thinks Asif lied to the court, and, after receiving bail neither he nor his family made any contact with her, as she did not contact them, either.
Shamima also added that their daughter Ajwah Rahman is currently sick, and admitted to a hospital. She also said that he just cannot end things like that “as we have a child together and her future is the more important issue here, and also her financial needs.”
In the case she filed against Asif she stated that she is a resident of Toronto, Canada and met him via Facebook on 2014. Then they decided to get married and got their families involved. They finally tied the knot on August 7, 2015 with their families’ consent.
Asif rose to prominence by appearing in several advertisements. He also gained widespread media attention after starring in the film “Ghashful” by Impress Telefilm. He is also a busy television actor.
