Aurthohin frontman Saidus Khaled Sumon, commonly known as Bassbaba Sumon, had his playback singing debut for Masud Hasan Ujjal’s debut feature film “Unoponchash Batash” on April 4 at his own studio.
The track was penned by Sumon Barua, composed by the film’s lead actor Imtiaz Barshan, and the tune was done by Ujjal himself.
Bassbaba recently told the press that while Ujjal was returning from Thailand after his checkup, he sent him a demo of the track and asked him if he would sing it. He also said he immediately let Ujjal know that he would sing the soft track and later on recorded the voice at his own studio on April 4.
The internationally renowned bass guitarist also added that he always said no to playback singing for films, but this time he liked the experience.
The film’s director and popular music director, Ujjal, recently told the press that his film’s hero was humming some lines of an unknown song one day when he realized the lyrics described a similar set of events in his film. He then came to know the song was incomplete and unpublished. Later on, the track was completed and the director wanted a very romantic and smart voice for the track. Ujjal added that Sumon was the first person that came to mind and he is hoping the audience will discover this very beautiful track in his film.
Sharlin Farzana and Imtiaz Barshan are the lead characters of this film directed by Ujjal, who is also a popular television director. The film is being produced by Asif Hanif under Red October’s banner where Syeda Shaon is the executive producer.
Apart from directing, the film’s story, dialogues, screenplay, art direction, and music direction is being done by Ujjal himself.The article was first published on banglatribune.com
