'Matir Projar Deshe' (Kingdom of Clay Subjects), is a feature film featuring popular actors Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Rokeya Prachi, Mahmudur Aninda, Sheuli Aktar, Monir Ahmed Shakil and Chinmoyi Gupta. The story of the film surrounds around a 10-year-old boy Jamal who loves his carefree life with his mother in rural Bangladesh, until the day his childhood friend and playmate is forced to become a child bride. Isolated and lost, Jamal finds the world a harsh reality when his hopes of getting new friends and attending school collide with his mother's past.
“Matir Projar Deshe” saw its world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival in 2016. This movie has participated in at least twenty international film festivals around the world including Chicago South Asian Film Festival in 2016 where it won the award of best film.
Popular singer Arko Mukhaerjee, a trained North Indian classical singer and an urban folk artist from Kolkata, has been researching on the roots of Indian and Bengali folk and contemporary music and Satyaki Banerjee, composer have made a new song “Kobita”for this movie. This is the only song of the movie, which will be used for the promotion purposes only.
To participate in this promotional campaign, these two artists are coming to Bangladesh on March 15. The artists duo informed, when they saw the movie, they felt touched and thought to create a song for this.
This is the only song voiced by Satyaki till date. He plays traditional instruments like dotara and sarod, performing both classical and folk.
Directed by Imtiaz Ahmed Bijon ‘Matir Projar Deshe’ is set to be released in Bangladesh on March 23, 2018.
