Young director Faridul Ahasan Shourav’s short film “The Revelation” was picked as an official selection for India’s Piggy Bank International Short Film Festival in Jaipur.
The festival begins on February 24.
“The Revelation” is a 10 min short narrative fiction where a talented young artist, who detests abstract art, desperately tries to submit her meticulously painted masterpiece before the submission deadline for an important art exhibition. Anxious that modern art connoisseurs won’t be able to appreciate her more traditional sensibilities, she is faced with one surprise after another.
In an interview with Showtime, director Shourav said, they shot the film in December, 2016 in three locations- an art studio in Uttara, where they shot most of the scenes, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy & Moderna Museet Mane Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
The film was selected in several other prestigious festivals like Cefalu Film Festival, Cefalu, Italy; NPS International Children’s Film Festival, Assam, India; Cardiff International Film Festival, United Kingdom; Africa International Film Festival, Lagos, Nigeria and 11th international Children’s Film festival Bangladesh.
Safwath Tasnia Priyanka played the lead in the film. Mariam Mahzabin, Fairuja Krishty and Kalpopriya Chowdhury worked in the sound department.
Shourav, who also edited and produced the film, said, this is the 9th film he directed. He, furthermore, wrote the screenplay, which was based on a story by Satyajit Ray.
“The Revelation” won Special jury award at Bushman Film Festival 2017 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
