Four Bangladeshi artists nominated for India's Filmfare Awards (East)
Four Bangladeshi artists, including acclaimed actor Jaya Ahsan, fusion band Chirkutt's vocal Sharmin Sultana Sumi and drummer Pavel Areen, cinematographer Sheikh Rajibul Islam, got nominated for India's Jio Filmfare Awards (East) 2018. Among the nominations, Jaya Ahsan bagged two for the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) both in the Critics' Choice and Popular categories for her role in the film “Bishorjon.” Sheikh Rajibul Islam got nominated for the Best Cinematography Award for “Doob”. Chikutt's vocal Sumi also garnered a double nomination- one for penning the lyrics of the celebrated playback number in “Doob,” “Ahare Jibon' and the other for voicing the track, under the Best Lyrics and Best Playback Singer (Female) categories. The drummer of the band, Pavel Areen, on the other hand, has been nominated in the Best Background Score category for his work in the same film. The Mostofa Sarwar Farooki film bagged a total 5 nominations in different categories, including the one for Irrfan Khan in the “Critics' Award for Best Actor.” The annual show of the prestigious Filmfare Awards franchise, which celebrates the best of Bengali cinema, is slated for February 17.
