SM Kamruzzaman Sagar, the organising secretary of the Directors Guild, is back with a project after five years. His last TV drama, “Dotta,” was released back in 2013. Now he is back with a new TV drama, titled “Batiwala.”
The television drama is written by Ferari Farhad and stars Jayanta Chattopadhyay. Rawnak Hasan plays his son in the project. Shatabdi Wadud and Aparna Ghosh will play other lead characters.
Sagar recently told the press that the drama is about unrequited love. Rawnak’s character, son of a lamp maker, falls in love with Goyna (Aparna Ghosh), even though she is married to a CNG driver, Haru (Shatabdi Wadud). Meanwhile, he joins his father's lamp business, as he believes these precious traditional oil lamps should be rescued from extinction. In a chain of events, Haru loses his leg from an accident and turns to Rawnak to learn making these lamps for a living.
This Net Multimedia drama will soon air on a private TV channel, said the director.
