Zafar Iqbal wants people to watch ‘Akhi O Tar Bondhura’ in theatres

National Film Award winning filmmaker Morshedul Islam’s new film’s premiere show was held at capital’s Star Cineplex on Monday evening. The premiere show was attended by famous personalities, celebrities  and the film’s cast and crew. Based on the popular novel written by author and academic Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, “Akhi O Tar Bondhura” revolves around a bunch of youngsters. Akhi, a blind girl, comes to study in a general school. The screenplay of the feature film was co-written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, the film’s director Morshedul Islam and screenwriter Barkat Ullah Maruf. “I want everyone to enjoy this film at the theatres. Children’s films aren’t usually shown in our country’s theatres,” Zafar Iqbal told the press at the premiere. “I want children to go  to the theatres with their parents to watch this movie when it gets released,” he added. [embed]https://www.facebook.com/akhiandfriends/posts/2021507948130379[/embed] The film’s director Morshedul Islam, producer Faridur Reza Sagar, executive producer Munira Morshed were also present at the premiere. Along with Suborna Mustafa and Al Monsur, who played two major roles, the film’s lead Zahin Nawar Haque and other young cast members were also present at the event. Everyone shared their experience during the shoot of the film at a session before the film started. The film’s director Morshedul Islam told the press: “I tried to make a simple narrative film from an outstanding story. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal wrote an excellent story and I tried to tell that story through my film.” “Do come and watch the film at the theatres and give your feedback,” he added. He also informed the press that the film will be released in capital’s Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas and a few more theatres. The film will also be released in several more theatres around the country. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYTWIJceywo&feature=youtu.be[/embed] Aside from the child actors, Suborna Mustafa, Tariq Anam Khan, Sushmita Sinha, Manna Hira, Al Mansur are also part of the film, among others. Produced by Impress Telefilm Limited and Monon Cholochitro, the film is supported by a government grant and will be released in December. Making his debut in 1984 with the short film Agami, Morshedul Islam gradually paved his way to become one of the prominent film makers of the country and played a leading role in establishing an alternative film movement in Bangladesh. He made his first children’s film Dipu Number Two in 1996. The film was acclaimed by the audience, particularly by the young people. Besides film making, Islam is actively involved with the film society movement of the country.
