Workshop for cultural reporters held at PIB
A certificate giving ceremony at the first workshop on cultural reporting was organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) in Dhaka. PIB Director General Shah Alamgir presided over the event on Thursday. Editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta attended the event as the chief guest and prominent theatre personality Mamunur Rashid attended the event as a special guest. Discussion on various aspects of cultural journalism, conducted by senior journalists, writers and researchers, was one of the major highlights of the three day-long workshop which began on December 12 at the PIB Seminar Room. The workshop was coordinated by Parvin Sultana Rabbi, an instructor at PIB. Among others, Mahfuz Siddiki, Anupam Hayat, Chinmoy Mutsuddi, Rahman Mustafiz and Mamunur Rashid conducted discussions on investigative journalism and cultural reporting. More than 35 reporters from different media platforms attended the workshop. In a press conference at the event, the guests said they are hopeful that more workshops on cultural journalism will be organized in future. Several members of Dhaka Cultural Reporters Unity, including its president, Rezaul Karim Reza, and general secretary, Abdullah Jeyad, were present at the ceremony.
