In one image, the happy couple was seen laughing happily during the 'phera' ceremony, while in another, a smiling Anushka is seen holding the garland to place it on Virat, who is held aloft by friends. The wedding was solemnised as per Hindu rituals, said their statement. The bride and groom were wearing ensembles designed by fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, it added. The couple, who has been together for four years, chose a luxury heritage resort Borgo Finocchieto, a little over 100 km away from Florence, for their nuptials, according to media reports. Anushka and Virat, both 29, had set the rumour train about their wedding running when they were seen leaving the Mumbai and Delhi airport, respectively, with their families last week. Maintaining a stoic silence, they had kept the secrecy about the much-anticipated union intact. The rumours had gathered steam first when Virat asked for rest during the ODI and T20 internationals against Sri Lanka. He will join the team for the South Africa series which starts from December 30. But before that, Virat and Anushka, or fondly called "Virushka," will be hosting a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on December 21, followed by another reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on December 26, said their statement. It also added that Virat and Anushka will move to their new residence in Worli, Mumbai in December.

"We're extremely grateful to media for their support and understanding in making this special occasion a memorable one and thank them for their continued love and support," said their spokesperson. According to the statement, the couple after the receptions will travel to South Africa where Virat will start prepping for the upcoming series and Anushka will spend New Year's Eve with him. It said she will return in the first week of January to begin the next schedule of Aanand L Rai's film with Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai. She will also start prepping for "Sui Dhaaga" as the shooting for the same starts in February 2018 with Varun Dhawan. The actress-producer will also be busy with the marketing and promotions of "Pari," which is set to be released on February 9. Virat, on the other hand, will be playing the series in South Africa for two months which includes three Tests, six ODIs and three T20 internationals, added the statement. The daughter of an army officer, Anushka was a model before she stepped into Bollywood through "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" opposite Shah Rukh in 2008. It set the pace of a career which has seen her be a part of movies like "Band Baaja Baaraat," "Jab Tak Hai Jaan," "PK," "NH10," "Dil Dhadakne Do," "Sultan" and "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil." Her last release was "Jab Harry Met Sejal" earlier this year. Virat's career in Indian national cricket team had also started in 2008, after he led the U-19 squad to a World Cup win. He has had a glorious run on the cricket pitch ever since. Anushka and Virat started dating back in 2013 after they worked together in a shampoo commercial.
