With the release of “Justice League” on November 17 knocking on the door, Warner Bros has announced an early release of its latest film in the DC Extended Universe franchise. As of now, “Wonder Woman 2” is set to hit the theatres on November 1, 2019, almost a month and half earlier than its previously announced date.
Warner Bros already had the date booked for an untitled DC movie, which has now been occupied with “Wonder Woman 2.” Previously, Warner Bros announced, after San Diego Comic-Con, that “Wonder Woman 2” was set to be released on December 13, 2019.
The new date places “Wonder Woman 2” seven weeks away, rather than one week, from Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: Episode IX,” which is set to open on December 20, 2019. The new date is a week before the opening of the 25th James Bond film.
Currently, on its new date, “Wonder Woman 2” faces zero competition.
Patty Jenkins, who directed the first film, is once again on board for direction while Gal Gadot is locked in to reprise her role as the titular character.
Wonder Woman was the highest-grossing film of summer 2017, stateside with $412.6 million. The film hailed to have the best opening ever for a live-action film by a female director, with $103.2M stateside, as well as the best worldwide with $821.8 million.
