Shah Rukh Khan, during his appearance at the 23rd Kolkata International Award, promised to learn the Bangla language on Friday, November 10.
He even spoke a few lines in Bangla at the event, without reading off a paper, winning the hearts of the audience. He also promised to come back next year, wearing the traditional dhoti and speak fluently in Bangla.
Bollywood’s King Khan further went on to say that he will keep learning the language, while he admitted that his Bangla is improving.
The Bollywood’s famous film star co-hosted the film festival’s inauguration ceremony.
SRK said that he is honoured to be in Kolkata, the city of culture and heritage. He also praised the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.
During Mamata’s speech, the CM promised to give a dhoti to Shah Rukh Khan as a present.
The actor posted a photo of himself hugging Mamata on his official Twitter, where he wrote: “Too much fun and love at KIFF 2017. Love my Kolkata & as always the warmth of @MamataOfficial…U r the sweetest.”
