Abdul Jabbar's condition deteriorated

The Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artist and eminent singer Abdul Jabbar's condition has deteriorated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), where he is admitted in ICU. Jabbar cannot undergo the necessary dialysis because of low blood pressure. Doctors are using medication to bring his pressure back up, Abdullah Al Harun, the director of BSMMU informed Bangla Tribune. Jabbar has been suffering from kidney complications for a long time and he has been hospitalised at BSMMU for the last three months. His condition exacerbated after his blood pressure plummeted on Saturday. The 'Salam salam hajar salam' famed singer started his career in erstwhile Pakistan Betar in 1958 and made his debut in playback singing in 1962. He has recorded over six thousand songs to this date. Many of his songs have become a staple of the modern Bangladeshi culture and music. Jabbar was awarded the Bangabandhu Padak in 1973, Ekushey Padak in 1980, and Swadhinata Padak in 1996, among numerous other accolades.
