People from all walks of life have thronged the capital’s Central Shaheed Minar to pay their respects to legendary Bangla film actor Nayakraj Razzak.
Razzak, popularly known as Nayak Raj, was taken to Shaheed Minar around 12:55pm Tuesday.
Earlier, the first namaz-e-janaza was held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) this morning.
Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu and a number of film actors and media personalities including Alamgir, Shakib Khan, Rubel, Kabori Sawar, Suchanda and Babita paid tributes to Razzak at the FDC.
His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan. He will be buried at Banani Graveyard in Dhaka.
The actor was taken to the United Hospital at 5:30pm on Monday after having a cardiac arrest where he died around 6:15pm.
Following his death, Badiul Alam Khakon, the president of the Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association, announced a three-day suspension of all filming activities in tribute to him.

During his long-running acting career, spanning more than half a century, Razzak worked in more than 300 Bangla and Urdu films, winning over the hearts of millions over the years. His tremendous contributions to Bangla cinema earned him a place of guardian to the industry for decades.
The five-time National Award-wining actor has also earned fame as a director. He directed a total of 16 films while his latest project, “Ayna Kahini,” was released in 2016.
Razzak was born on January 23, 1942 at Nagtola in Taliganj, Kolkata. When he was in class VII, he was chosen to play a lead in a stage play, it was this role as a rural boy which initiated his long-running acting career.
In a first for a Bangladeshi film actor, Razzak was elected a Unicef goodwill ambassador. He was also the founding president of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association.
