Cultural ministry halts discussion program featuring Tisha amidst criticism
The discussion program on the life and works Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman featuring  actor Nusrat Imrose Tisha, writer and journalist Anisul Haque and jorunalist Naimul Islam Khan has been halted. Hosted by the cultural ministry, the program was slated to take place on August 20. Upon the invitation, Tisha expressed her gratitude and excitement to several media, saying, “I am really proud to be able to talk on Bangabandhu in such a program.” Cultural minister Asaduzzaman Noor was to be the chief guest of the event. The chosen panellists weren’t welcomed by the social media users in Bangladesh, however. Many were vocal in their criticism of the choice of speakers. Amidst the ongoing dispute regarding the speakers panel, invitations sent out on August 17 to the guests, have been revoked, stating “unavoidable reasons”. When asked for clarification behind the cancellation of the program, Md Ibrahim Hossain Khan, secretary of the ministry, stuck to the official reason and declined to elaborate.
