Deepika says ‘no’ to lower pay
According to India Today, Deepika Padukone has refused to work for a lesser fee than what she received for her work in Padmavati. The report says she did not want to work when she was approached for a film featuring one of the Khans. Taken aback by this, the producers are unsure what to do, as the film’s story requires another female star in a leading role, which means the producers will have to pay top rupees for that actress as well. Deepika Padukone, fresh from her success in movies like Bajirao Mastani and Piku, is set to feature in the fourth outing of the xXx franchise. She made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return Of Xander Cage that released in January this year. Rumour is that Deepika Padukone is getting a whopping Rs12 crore as remuneration for her upcoming film Padmavati. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali the film also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone is ranked at ten in world’s ten highest paid actresses list alongside Hollywood heavyweights Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts and Friends star Jennifer Aniston. Deepika became the only Indian actress and the sole newcomer in Forbes’ 2016 list of the ‘World’s Highest-Paid Actresses.’ Deepika Padukone has reportedly devoted an entire year for the period drama Padmavati, which may have been a reason for her astronomical fees. In the movie Deepika is protraying the titular Rajput queen.
