Popular English actor and model, Gwendoline Christie, who is better known for portraying the warrior Brienne of Tarth in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones and Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi is going to join Robert Zemeckis’ Universal drama.
Janelle Monae, Diane Kruger and Leslie Mann are also set to star in the yet-to-be-titled feature along with Steve Carell as Mark, a man who builds a miniature WWII-era village as a way to recover from a violent assault. Christie will be playing Mark’s Russian caretaker, Anna.
Produced by Zemeckis’ Uni-based ImageMovers, the project was co-written by Zemeckis and Caroline Thompson and is supposedly based on Jeff Malmberg’s Marwencol.
Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey will co-produce the venture along with Cherylanne Martin, while Malmberg and Jackie Levine will be the executive producers of the feature.
Christie will be next seen on the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones, reprising her fan favourite role as Brienne of Tarth, and also opposite Nicole Kidman and Elisabeth Moss in Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake series.
