Dance performances in the forms of classical Bharatanatyam, Manipuri and Kathak will be presented at a ceremony on Saturday, June 24. The students from a Dhaka based dance school, Kolpotoru, and the dance artiste of Shadhona will carry out these performances. The dance recital program is organised on the occasion of presenting certificates and awards to the newly graduate of Kolpotoru.
The first batch of Kolpotoru just completed a nine-year-long diploma on the classical dance form, Bharatanatyam. Kolpotoru and West Bengal Dance Group Federation of India will jointly hand over certificates to the graduates through a ceremony at the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro auditorium on Saturady in Dhaka.
The seven graduates are Zuairiyah Mouli, Shuddha Srimoyee Das, Parisa Omar, Aviya Khan, Anishta Khan, Shammy Akter and Tahsin Saba.
Followed by the certificates awarding, a Bharatanatyam dance production Nrityarpon, directed by Amit Chowdhury, will be staged. Besides, the dance artiste of Shadhona will perform in Manipuri and Kathak dance pieces.
Kolpotoru was started in 2008 in Dhaka. The students from the dance school, who are trained by Lubna Marium and Amit Chowdhury, have earned plaudits performing Bharatanatyam in home and abroad.
