Celebrities mourn Lucky Akhand’s demise on social media
Legendary singer and composer Lucky Akhand has passed away at a Dhaka hospital following prolonged illness. He breathed his last on Friday evening. Fans and celebrities shared their feelings mourning the singer’s demise on social media. A shocked Fahmida Nabi wrote on a Facebook status, “Lucky Uncle is no more!” right after the news of his death broke out. Zulfiqer Russell, famous lyricist and editor of Bangla Tribune posted about his unconditional love for the eminent singer while prominent singer and composer, Bappa Mazumder expressed his surprise upon hearing the news by posting, “Lucky bhai is no more!!” Journalist Hassan Bipul posted: “The ensemble that led the music movement of the fusion of local emotion, stories and mood channeled with western instruments in Bangladesh, he will be remembered as instrumental and as the front liner in that part of our history. RIP Lucky Akhand. You will be missed.” Program producer and archive in-charge Ehsanul Huq Tito of ABC radio wrote in a status, “May your soul find peace now. Rest in peace Lucky bhai” while popular lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon shared the news of the singer’s death and wrote, “I am personally shocked to hear this.” Another talented singer, Elita Karim posted a beautiful eulogy: “An end of an era: the legendary Lucky Akhand is no more. May he be in peace. Thank you sir for gifting us with such beautiful melodies! I feel honoured to have performed with you, interacted with you, to have performed your songs and to have been a part of something that you will always be a part of.” Pop fusion band Chirkutt’s vocalist, Sharmin Sultana Sumi also posted on her Facebook: “A true artist, both in his creations and personality. My respect for him from the core of my heart cause I’ve never seen him bragging about himself. Rest in piece legendary artist Lucky Akhand. Allah will provide you with the best place.”
