“A month of immersion into Misir Ali, involvement with him in every aspect of my life and all for one reason, just not to disappoint the audience. Today I’ve finished the shooting of Devi,” wrote Chanchal Chowdhury in a Facebook status on Sunday, with a clean shaved photo of him attached to it.
The Aynabaji actor has been busy for the last few days with his latest venture Devi, an adaptation of Humayun Ahmed’s novel, having the same title. Chanchal portrays Misir Ali, the psychiatrist, an iconic literary protagonist and cult favourite of Bangladesh for the last three decades.
To provide the audience with the real flavour of the Misir Ali Humayun Ahmed created, the 42-year-old actor devoted both his body and soul. Chanchal did not shave his beard for months, gained weight and whitened his hair to look like the part-time professor of Psychology at the University of Dhaka, who has a deep interest and knowledge in Parapsychology.
Although, the lead actor of Devi declined to reveal much about the film, a look at the actor’s physical changes will surely make the fans believe that they are in a for a delicious treat.
Anam Biswas is helming the literature turned film, while Jaya Ahsan is working as the producer, besides being a part of the cast. Animesh Aich, Shabnam Faria and Iresh Zaker will also be seen in different characters of the film.
