Nikhil Chinapa has replaced Karan Kundra in MTV’s Roadies Rising. The news of the replacement surfaced after a video, in which Karan was seen slapping a contestant, went viral. But Nikhil maintains that it was because of Karan’s previous commitments that he had to leave the show. “There is no truth in the slapping incident. All these are rumors. Karan had to leave the show because of date clashes,” Nikhil said.
Some reporters tried to get in touch with Karan but he was unavailable for comment. The actor, who appeared in the last two seasons of Roadies, has handed over his responsibilities to VJ Nikhil Chinapa.
Nikhil, who has been associated with MTV as a host and VJ for several years, says that it feels great to be back on the show. He had hosted Roadies in its initial years. “I have been away for seven years. Rannvijay and I are good friends; we are like family. It would be great competing against all these guys. Bhajji is a fun guy,” he says, adding, “I will enjoy every bit of it but it’s going to be challenging as well.”
Nikhil Chinapa was born in Bangalore and has lived in Agra. Although he has a background in architecture, he decided to listen to his heart and become a professional DJ. At present, his firm Submerge is promoting upcoming DJs and events at clubs in the metro cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. His name is now synonymous with contemporary dance and music events across India. He started Submerge to promote the image of a DJ as an artist, rather than adhering to the popular demand of the audience at clubs.
So far, the audience of MTV Roadies seem happy to see their favorite host back as gang leader.
