Renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel was bestowed with the prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2017, in recognition for his contribution in the film industry. Chitrali Pathok-Pathika Chalochitra Samsad (ChiPaChaS) has organised an event in order to celebrate Tanvir’s achievement. The reception is scheduled to take place on Friday at the National Art Galley Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy at 5pm.
According to the organisers, the filmmaker’s life and work will be dicussed at the event. Prominent figures including the likes of filmmakers Morshedul Islam and Masihuddin Shaker, Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, ex-DG of Bangladesh Film Archive, film critique Mahmudul Hossain Dulal, columnist and poet Ahmad Mazhar, Belayat Hossain Mamun, secretary general, Federation of Film Socities of Bangladesh (FFSB) will be present, among others.
The director’s latest film Jibondhuli will be screened after the dicussions.
Previously, the talented filmmaker was awarded with the National Film Awards for 10 times in multiple categories including best film, best director, best story writer and best dialogue for three of his popular works, The River Named Modhumati, Quiet Flows The River Chitra and A Tree Without Roots.
