One of the most anticipated events for local rock fans, the Joy Bangla Concert is being organised by Young Bangla today. The platform aims to use music as a tool to introduce the young generation to the true history of Bangladesh. The concert will be held at Dhaka’s Army Stadium, the same venue where it was organised last year.
The concert is an initiative that has been undertaken to mark the historic announcement of Bangladesh’s Liberation War by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 7, 1971.
Popular bands Warfaze, Cryptic Fate, Arbovirus, Nemesis, Shironamhin, Shunno, Lalon and Chirkut will perform at the third edition of the concert. Showtime got in touch with several bands to get some inside scoop on their preparations for the grand event.
Tipu from Warfaze
This is obviously a special event for us not only because of the magnitude of the program, but also because of the enthusiasm Joy Bangla brings. We’ll be performing our own tracks followed by a track of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro, “Joy Bangla Bole Age Baro” will be featured on our playlist for today’s event.
Sufi Maverick from Arbovirus
We are all set to rock. Joy Bangla concert comes with a special significance to us as it comes to the nation. The concert that takes place on historic March 7 needs to be viewed from a different aspect. Thus, we’ll be performing a track of Sujeo Shyam along with our own tracks from our last album.
Ziaur Rahman Zia from Shironamhin
Joy Bangla has always been a special event for us as it is one of the biggest and unparalleled events in the country. The stage and arrangement is fabulous which brings out additional responsibility onto us. We enjoy performing at the glorious event. We’ll be performing our original tracks along with two tribute tracks.
