People from the literary and musical world alike, had mixed feelings about Bob Dylan receiving the Nobel Prize for literature. On top of the amalgamated reactions about his win, the Nobel committee fruitlessly tried reaching out to him. Some people called him impolite and arrogant for his lack of response.
The Nobel Laureate finally broke his silence this Friday in an interview with The Telegram. He acknowledged his award by saying, “Amazing, incredible. Whoever dreams about something like that? I absolutely plan on attending the Nobel gala, if it's at all possible," he added. The news about the Nobel Prize left me speechless," Dylan told the Swedish Academy. "I appreciate the honour so much. If I accept the prize? Of course."
On the other hand, the Nobel Foundation was not sure if Dylan could attend the ceremony. He also went on to respond the committee's decision on awarding him. "I'll let other people decide what they are. The academics, they ought to know. I'm not really qualified," Dylan said. "I don't have any opinion.”
