Bangladesh could soon become nothing short of an economic powerhouse
Today is the first day of 2019.
A new year always gives us the chance to turn over a new leaf, and with it, the opportunity to work towards fixing some of the things that many feel are wrong with our country.
With Bangladesh’s 11th parliamentary elections just having concluded, this is a new year perhaps a little different from the ones which have immediately preceded it.
Regardless of how one feels about the recently concluded elections, and opinions have differed sharply, one thing that we should all be able too agree on as a nation is that we cannot afford to lose hope for the future.
Bangladesh’s journey is like few others in history, and has always, at the end of the day, banked on the people, their hard work, their resilience.
What cannot be denied is what Bangladesh has achieved over the past year, despite the obstacles which have stood in our way, especially when it comes to our economy.
As it stands, Bangladesh could soon become nothing short of an economic powerhouse, with our RMG sector the second-most sought after in the world, and the diversification of our exports has only resulted in expanding our presence on the global stage.
But our successes have not been with regards to the economy alone. We have also witnessed improvements in quality of life as we have worked towards meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Millennium Development Goals, and succeeded with great results.
Our responsibility lies now in continuing the work towards these goals and our goal of making Bangladesh a truly prosperous, progressive, and powerful presence among nations.
