Conor McGregor, the marketing gimmick

  • Published at 05:58 pm October 10th, 2018

Khabib is miles ahead of anything McGregor could hope to be

The truth is that McGregor was never really that good at MMA. He is just a sub-standard boxer who can’t hack it at pro boxing or Muay Thai, so he does MMA instead where he looks good standing up.

The rest of McGregor’s MMA skills and his cardiovascular and resilience capacity are pathetic. Nor is he some sort of a braveheart.

The truth is that McGregor’s image as a white imperialist trash talker was cultivated by Dana White to attract a US/UK audience -- he’s just a marketing gimmick, attracting the worst and most base elements of hooligan Western society.

And that gimmick has now been found out for what it is.

Khabib, on the other hand, is an amazing all rounder with multiple world class MMA skill sets. Of course his jiu-jitsu, wrestling, grappling are beyond comparison, and then we have his phenomenal cardio, strength, resilience, and mental capacity.

Even his punching is top class vs other MMA fighters: Conor could not land even one punch, whereas Khabib knocked down McGregor with a punch of his own, slapped him in the face, and jabbed away at leisure.  The judges may have awarded the third round to McGregor, but what I saw in that round was Khabib taunting and challenging McGregor to knock him out; he was giving him a final chance, before he would maul the Irishman into humiliation.

McGregor cheated throughout the fight to lessen his thrashing and when he finally and pathetically tapped out into submissive humiliation, he was done, whereas Khabib could have kept going for another 20 minutes.

Rematch? Don’t make me laugh -- if there is a next time, Khabib will send McGregor to the hospital, where he will end up having to suck puree vegetables out of a straw for the rest of his life. McGregor is done.

And while I can’t ever condone Khabib’s post-fight antics, any fans or pundits who focus on that do so because they are trying to divert the truth from the fact that Khabib is the most complete, dominant, and terrifying MMA fighter on the planet, and the McGregor marketing gimmick is well past its sell-by date.
